Where to stay in Sicily? The best places, accommodation prices, and a price map.

Wondering where to stay in Sicily? This guide will help you find the best accommodations on the island, along with approximate hotel prices, practical tips, and recommendations for different types of travelers. Whether you're planning a sightseeing tour, a seaside getaway, or a Sicily sightseeing tour, you'll find locations to suit all budgets and travel styles.

If I were flying to Sicily for the first time…

If I were flying to Sicily for the first time, I'd choose two or three different accommodations instead of changing hotels every day. The best route is between the eastern part of the island (around Catania or Taormina), the south (Agrigento), and the western part around Palermo or Trapani. This way, you can avoid constantly packing suitcases and long hours of travel, which can be more tiring in Sicily than the map shows.

Sicily Price Map

The most important tool will be the price map I've prepared. It's based on actual accommodation prices observed in Sicily's most popular tourist destinations. I've designed it so that you can see everything at a glance. Yes! But that's just the beginning.
When selecting a location based on the map, you always need to take the next step: searching for specific accommodations in the chosen location. Filter links are available for this purpose. More information on these can be found below.

A map of Sicily showing approximate accommodation prices in various regions of the island. Green areas indicate the cheapest regions, yellow the average prices, and red the most expensive. The map highlights major tourist attractions, including Palermo, Taormina, Mount Etna, Syracuse, Agrigento, Cefalù, the Aeolian Islands, and the Scala dei Turchi.
Price map in Sicily and the location of the best accommodations
How to read a price map?

The division into three price zones is indicative and is based on average prices for accommodation for two people in hotels, guesthouses and apartments booked well in advance.
The high tourist season in Sicily lasts from June to mid-September, with particular intensity in July and August, when the island experiences the greatest heat and prices reach their highest levels.
During the low season, prices can be up to 20% to 50% lower.

  • $ – the cheapest accommodation in Sicily (usually €50–120)
  • $$ – mid-range prices (around €90–180)
  • $ $ $ – the most expensive regions and resorts (€180–450 and more)

Keep in mind that prices may vary depending on the property's standard, travel dates, and length of stay. Just because a place is in the $$$ area doesn't mean you won't find accommodations there for $$. There are simply fewer of them and they sell out faster.

Below the map, you'll find an alphabetical list of all the locations visible on the map ! Each town includes approximate accommodation prices, the advantages of the location, and a ready-made link to the accommodation search engine to make finding accommodation easier. The links have built-in filtering parameters that limit search results to the area you're interested in. You don't have to enter anything. Just click and you're done! A filtered, ready-to-browse list, free from unnecessary clutter. Very fast and incredibly convenient.

What would I do differently on my next road trip?
On my next Sicily tour, I'd plan fewer stops and more overnight stays, at least 2-3 nights. The distances look innocuous on the map, but Sicilian roads, traffic jams in cities, and parking problems can make the days significantly longer. However, this doesn't change the fact that my first trip would probably be overflowing with plans and attractions. That's just who I am, that's how I like it. Explore the way you like best! Listen to yourself and your needs. A plan is just a tool, not an obligation.
